I graduated college with a degree in fashion design and manufacturing, and was able to start my career in the industry right after graduation. I felt so grateful to find a position in an ever challenging industry. I spent almost 15 years in the corporate world of design. It was great, challenging, and overwhelming at times.  I saw amazing things, was taught by amazing people, and created amazing relationships. Yet, something needed to be different in my life. I loved so many aspects of it, but the stress was wreaking havoc on me.  I needed a change that would foster more balance in my life.  So I left, I left corporate life after 15 years, and my freelance career began, I’d had a vision for a long time. I kept telling myself, I wanted to do design work, teach yoga, and have something of my own. After visualizing, saying it out loud and completely believing in this transition, It came to be.

I started initially freelance designing for friends and family, Interior this time. It was fun, I love it. I love to do color work, love to walk into someone’s space and give them fresh perspective, and get them excited about their homes again. I have had the opportunity to design spaces from scratch, and also re-do spaces with what was currently available.  I love putting the puzzle pieces together.  Click here to see some of my design work.  www.filigreedesign.net

I also went to a teacher training program for yoga, and began my unending quest for knowledge around yoga and its philosophies. I’d been a student off and on for years, but travel often kept me from being consistent.  After leaving corporate, I finally had time to further my studies. I trained initially in Vinyasa yoga, then realized I wanted to explore more. I went on to train in the Hot series, Prenatal, Postnatal, Yoga Bonding (Parent and Baby), Kids, and most recently Strong Yoga 4 Fertility with Brenda Strong. I have had amazing mentors and teachers that have helped shaped my life and who I am as a teacher.  They have all added to my wealth of information and personal growth in so many ways.  I am so grateful for all of the gifts each of them has shared with me.

After a long road of fertility challenges, in 2007 I became a mommy.  Nothing can truly prepare you for parenthood. I have so much more awareness of parents, I wish I’d had it before, but know that I had to experience this for my eyes to open to this splendid world. Everyday brings a new word, a new color, something unbelievable that I had forgotten about, or never noticed. Children are such amazing teachers, they are truly here to remind us of everything good, and how truly fantastic life can be.

Our road to children is what brought me to another element of my teaching.  In 2009, I founded Fertile Grounding Yoga.  A yoga program designed to help couples seeking pregnancy.  Many of my students are going through Assisted Reproductive Therapy, similar to my husband and I.  My goal was to create community, empowerment and connection.  You can learn more about my Fertile Grounding Yoga classes by clicking here, or visiting the Fertile Grounding Yoga page.
